Quality Control

Process Quality Control

Quality feed analysis conducted on our suppliers crop fields, covering issues such as: crude protein, relative feed value, moisture percentage, acid detergent fiber and Neutral Detergent Fibre. We believe it is essential to accurately evaluate and grade our products to ensure effective customer satisfaction.

Production of Cambridge Feeds’ range of animal feed products involves a number of quality control measures to ensure the best possible standards for farmersand our growing distributor networks.

Quality Analysis

Analysis testing is conducted by Cambridge Feeds’ network of suppliers on every fieldof crops. Analysis includes information on:

  • Crude protein content (CP)
  • Relative Feed Value (RFV)
  • Moisture percentage (DM)
  • Acid Detergent Fibre (ADF)
  • Neutral Detergent Fibre (NDF)

We regard accurate quality control analysis testing as essential to grade our animal feed suppliesappropriately for our customers, so you can be confident ofbuying and selling qualityanimal feed products as farmers and distributors.

Moisture Testing

Hay moisture levels are tested at various stages of the livestock feed production process to optimise quality at all times, such as:

  • Prior to baling
  • Bale probes
  • At the storage location
  • Before our product enters the press barn (this offers protection for when finally containerised prior to shipping).

Hay pressing and animal feed processing for transport

Hay for export will also be further processed ready for safe containerisation. Compression of hay, or hay pressing is where various forage animal foodstuffs are pressed into tightly bound, high density, low moisture units.

Cambridge Feed packaging options are available to our customers and supply chain, including stretch wrap or strapping. Where national animal feed regulations require fumigation, such as exports for Japan, this can be also arranged. This additional process takes 7 days. Hydrogen phosphide is applied after unit loading and prior to port transportation.

40ft intermodal transport containers are loaded with our pressed hay bales and these are thensealed for transportation via ocean or rail freight; in some cases, depending on ultimate destination, semi-trailer truck freight will be employed.

Safe transit is ensured with further processing for containerisation. We partner with renowned logistics partners, for ocean, rail, or road transport, so you have peace of mind of timely delivery and quality of product upon arrival.
